Oliva cared for a 21 y/o female. Olivia was a true patient advocate going above and beyond her nursing duties. The patient was told by many that medically nothing could be done and that she should talk with palliative care. When Olivia heard this, she went into action. "She is 21 years old. I have to help her."

Olivia reached out, made calls and provided education to the patient. She needed a personal trainer, help with meal prep and choices. On Saturday Olivia sent a personal message to Rich who was at home asking for help. "Hey it's Olivia. I work in ICU at Trinity. I have a patient who desperately needs cardiac rehab to lose weight for a heart transplant. Is there any string you can pull or know of any personal trainers who will work with a 21-year-old with an EF of 19%"?"  Olivia made many efforts to build a strong team and help give hope to a very young person who had no drive or will to keep going. By the end of the weekend Olivia, the patient, and the mother of the patient were filled with hope. The patient walked in the hall with Olivia praising her all the way. I was so proud of her and how she went above the call of duty for this patient. Olivia is a young nurse (2 years). As a seasoned nurse my heart was warmed that caring and kindness is still alive. I believe Olivia is ready for her DAISY.
