She makes sure to not only care for me medically but mentally as well. She is so good at advocating for me to make sure I have anything I need to make things less stressful for me and my mom.
Through the past 4 years I have been admitted to Mary Bridge at least 15 times. I have had many amazing nurses, but the one who truly stands out to me is Oliva. Even when I am in so much pain or struggling, or even after throwing up less than 5 minutes beforehand, she always finds a way to make me laugh and smile. She is amazing at connecting not only with patients, but with families too. Even when she is not my nurse she makes sure to check in on me. When my mom can't be with me and I am lonely at night she comes to sit with me for a few minutes when she has free time. I can’t even be thankful enough to have Oliva on my team, since sometimes laughter is the best medicine. Being in a hospital as a teenager is hard enough. Throw in a global pandemic, where you can't have visitors, and it can be hard to keep going, yet she is always able to put a smile on my face. She makes sure to not only care for me medically but mentally as well. She is so good at advocating for me to make sure I have anything I need to make things less stressful for me and my mom. She always goes above and beyond to give 110% to everything. Even though she cares for multiple kids at a time, she makes me feel like I am special. She has a knack for connecting with people of all ages. An example of this would be talking to a patient about their interests and hobbies; this helps keep me focused on what I love to do to get my mind off of where I am and what I’m going through. Olivia is a true DAISY Nurse.
