Olivia Stroik, RN

My mother was admitted to the CICU for about seven days. Olivia immediately made us feel secure and confident that my mom would receive the utmost care and support overnight when we tried to get some sleep.

She spent time washing my mom’s hair and braiding it after having glue and other debris in her hair. She took time to continuously check in on everything we were worried about and cared about the big things like her higher temperature and blood pressure, down to details like keeping her skin, lips, and nose from getting dry or cracked.

My mom is unable to advocate for herself or speak, but Olivia treated her with the utmost care and respect. When difficult decisions had to be made about my mom’s care, she took time out of her busy day to process with us, show vulnerability, answer all of our questions, and comfort us all every step of the way.

I have never experienced or seen a nurse like Olivia, and I hope every family gets to experience someone like her. I cried leaving the CICU for many reasons, one of them knowing we wouldn’t have her by our side as my mom’s care continues.

Olivia is top tier and deserves all of the recognition in the world. We thank her for all she has done - we will never forget her.
