August 2023 Honoree
Oluseyi Oluola, RN
I would like to nominate Oluseyi’s “Seyi” from the 5th floor nursing staff. My husband was given a death sentence at another hospital (if he were younger or stronger, I could work with him, but look at him) and was sent home to live out his days on hospice. The drug “oxy” they were giving him killed his spirit. Once I took him off Oxy, life came back to him. He wanted to fight, and so we came to AdventHealth. My 67-year-old husband had his fears calmed by the entire staff. Seeking aggressive treatment for rectal cancer, your staff eased those fears with honesty, caring, and jokes. Your smile, sarcasm, and joking helped put my cantankerous husband at ease. The hospitality and caring of the entire staff was great. The cohesive partnering between the physician and nursing staff was great and really eased his fears. Learning that he could possibly live the rest of his life without a colostomy bag sent him over the moon. He’ll be back for outpatient procedures. Once Chemo/radiation is over, he’ll be looking forward to giving the 5th floor staff another go-round so they can see his process full circle.
Thank you, Oluseyi, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
