Olympia was kind, polite, empathetic, sensitive, caring, attentive to all of my needs, and highly qualified for her job.
I was a patient of Olympia's for a post-op emergency appendectomy. From the moment I got to the floor, Olympia showed extraordinary compassion, care, and service. She took time to explain patient safety in detail, pointing out the “Call Don’t Fall” sign on the ceiling, putting a “Fall Risk” bracelet on my arm, and encouraging me to call if I needed assistance. She also made sure I had access to the call light button. She assisted me to and from the bathroom. After helping me get up, she showed me ways to make getting up easier. She wouldn’t let me get back into bed before straightening my sheet and pad. She even lifted both legs as I laid down. She is the best nurse I’ve ever met. She attended to my every post-op need with care and concern. She made me feel very confident in her clinical skills and experience. I could tell she loves her job, and she did everything with a great attitude and plainly exemplified that care and service were top priorities in her nursing care. She even walked down with my husband to show him how to get out of the hospital. She was kind, polite, empathetic, sensitive, caring, attentive to all of my needs, and highly qualified for her job. She did everything with a great attitude and always had a smile. She would be a great instructor for orientation classes for new nurses on how to treat every patient as you would want to be treated or how you would want your mom or dad treated. In my opinion, she demonstrated all five of the qualities of the DAISY Award while caring for me, and all on one nightshift.
