Our new nurses trust Omar so much because he has never let them feel like they were alone.
Omar has been instrumental in the growth of our DOU. Omar volunteered to be a charge in DOU when our unit was just starting. He volunteered to be a charge nurse to help our new nurses grow, and wanted to help our critical patients in overflow. When things are really tough, Omar never shies away from helping in any sort of way. He continues to work tirelessly through the pandemic. There were nights when there were 3-4 patients getting intubated, coding, and dying all at the same time. Despite these challenges, he took care of the nurses and patients with such care and attention. Every time he was asked, "How was your night?" he would say, "We made it as a team." Our new nurses trust Omar so much because he has never let them feel like they were alone. His expertise and confidence in his team allowed us to provide for our community during these unprecedented times. You won't find Omar sitting; he is constantly helping and teaching.

As we started to open up for visitation, Omar was so instrumental in making sure families and patients were together.
