Capt Nunez is a dedicated advocate of process improvement and ensuring patient safety in Labor and Delivery. Through her help, the National Institute of Health's PURPLE crying program to prevent Shaken Baby Syndrome was reinstituted. Over the past year, she has spearheaded the unit's goal of obtaining a National Safe Sleep Certification for the hospital- working with multiple departments to develop a Safe Sleep Policy. No hospitals in Las Vegas hold this certification. She was instrumental in improving our parent educational materials within the unit promoting a Safe Sleep environment and sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS) prevention. Because of her efforts, MOMMC is ready to submit for national certification.
