Over the last three weeks, Candace and Peggy have been attending to my husband. Both have had him for his second week during his stay when his broken shoulder incision was heavily bleeding after hardware removal, and the last days prior to discharging. Candace and Peggy both displayed a thorough and completely genuine manner of my husband’s needs with extraordinary open communication explaining what they had seen the week before and the following week upon return. My husband was in Candace’s and Peggy’s care as all worked very diligently and compassionately to help him and me with all of his medical and daily needs. They openly talked to us about every infusion, medicine, and therapies given. I got a real sense of both of their concerns for his well-being and when they explained his improved condition and he was ready to transition to rehab therapy at another facility we were happy to hear they both were willing to comment on their known experiences. This gave us both confidence in him being finally moved after such a long hospital stay. Every time I requested for supporting caregiving provider partners to give updates and visit my husband or request to talk to hospitalists if often I missed their visit, they timely adhered to my requests and updated me so that we could effectively and timely plan his discharge. This was very important to us both!

All three treated me like a best friend, listens to my problems, cut up to lighten the mood because I’m so sick, but we have goofed off and had a blast. Made me feel like family – very talkative but so am I, we hit it off great! They are so sweet, caring and make me laugh! I don’t feel sad because they always joke making me feel safe and taken care of. When you’re sick, you want to be treated right and they go above and beyond. Had a threat and had security watch me! Made me feel loved and protected; THE BEST!! I couldn’t do without who is taking care of me. They listened to me. Makes things better when someone is very polite and feels like you're not alone. Trustworthy, very nice, polite, caring RN, CNA & Charge Nurse. Wonderful staff with bedside manner! We clicked right away and that’s what I needed! Never complaints, just jokes! I love that they made my stay here fun! That’s what I needed!

They have made my day even in pain and sickness. Jokes are the best medicine. Everyone who has worked on me/ with me is amazing! But these 3 – OMG PERFECT! The doctor just calls orders, but they treated me like a brother, sister, and mama bear! Stood beside me and dried tears off my face with me crying so bad. Crying my eyes, so upset she stayed right with me, telling me that no one was going to harm me. Security said they will make sure he never knows I’m here. She saw me crying and directly told me to tell April which she called security right away. David is a nut; he keeps me smiling along with Sarah, and April is a mama bear protecting her “kids”. Gentle but doesn’t like seeing her patients in pain and I was crying hard. They are keeping me for 4 – 5 days but maybe I can get better soon and go to get my tube replaced because mine is messed up and I’m throwing up and sick. They ask for IV Phenergan because I’m allergic to so much. I asked April if she could change meds because they weren’t working well so she and David are trying hard to fix this issue. They can’t go above the doctors’ orders. They deserve this award.

I would like to nominate two nurses. I have suffered from Crohn's disease for close to ten years. So, I have unfortunately started feeling like the hospital has become my second home. But on this particular stay, I was blessed with not one but two incredible nurses. I would like to tell you how comforting it is to know that both of these ladies went above and beyond what their job required of them. My daytime nurse Ms. Alexis was so attentive. She explained things to me when I was in tears. She took the time to message my doctors and adjust my medication when I was in extreme pain. She always made sure I was comfortable. And when they advanced my diet, she came by more than once to check how I tolerated it and if I ate enough. She made sure that I was always OK, and she let me know that I would have her as my nurse the next day as well. So, for 3 days I knew I was going to be in great hands during the day and she was a joy to look forward to in these circumstances. Ms. Alexis is a wonderful lady and a Godsend who happens to be a nurse. Ms. Pam was my night nurse and just like Ms. Alexis, she was always hands-on and even though I know how busy she must have been, she always stopped what she was doing and took the time to speak with me. I asked her a question about my diet, and it turned out she had a fascinating diet herself and gave me tips for when I went home. Another example, my IV site started leaking, and when I called to let her know she came right in and checked. Of course, she had to send for the IV Ultrasound machine and although it took a couple of tries, she was the one who finally got a vein with blood return. She was gentle and patient and she kept making sure that I was OK and comfortable. I just want to say that during my stay at Prisma Health OMH I had two of the best nurses ever!!
