I was on-site and the Director of the Feather River Cancer Clinic on Nov 8, 2018. We evacuated like the rest of the facility and have not returned to that site. That day we lost our ability to provide infusion and radiation as well as our provider clinic visits at that location.
What I think is incredible is that a multi-disciplinary team quickly formed from both Feather River Hospital and Adventist Health and Rideout to re-start patient radiation/infusion therapies and clinic care for our cancer patients. We started (and continue to provide) therapy and visits 3 working days after the fire in two different locations. This resilience was due to the concerted group effort on the part of a dedicated skeleton crew of Feather River Hospital Cancer Center, Feather River Hospital Pharmacy, Feather River IT and the Adventist Health and Rideout Pharmacy, Adventist Health and Rideout Oncology and Adventist Health and Rideout Radiation Oncology teams. If I am not mistaken this challenge and response is unprecedented on at least the west coast if not the whole US.
I would like to propose that these actions qualify for The DAISY Team Award for a large multi-disciplinary group who faced and succeeded in the challenge of providing critical/essential cancer therapies to our patients in the immediate aftermath of the Campfire of November 8, 2018, and beyond. I would like to propose "meaningful recognition" to the village that kept our patients on critical treatment.

Thank you for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
