Welcome to our new OR! Of course, not without a lot of hard work, stress, and teamwork that went into our staff preparing and moving into our new OR without missing a beat! (or surgery!) No one person can truly understand this large undertaking our department went through that enabled our Beaumont organization to not miss one day of surgery (i.e. revenue)! Under the direct management of Karen Dulka, who supplied additional help and saved time for "emotional therapy" with her open-door policy! Courtney Wojtowicz, our full-time charge nurse on days was able to continually perform her duties as charge, at the same time finding time to also address the countless additional activities leading to the new OR. Our entire OR staff, RNs, techs, SSAs, and CRNAs performed and excelled in doing our job in the old OR and then moving and continuing with surgery in the new OR the next morning without any major issues! To learn a "new" job overnight without any "practice" or time to get acquainted with their new surroundings was certainly quite a feat! As an old time RN with 30+ years in the OR, I feel this could have been disastrous, but the staff managed to pull it off and appeared to make it look like they've done this every day even though there was a lot of underlying stress. As a "team" member I know that I wouldn't have wanted to be a part of any other! Thank you, co-workers!
