Orion did a great job tonight. He did an amazing job with a large family who had some issues with nurse and doctors in the past. He recognized that his patient most likely would not make it to the morning without suffering and suggested that I call the family to move forward with comfort measures. Once the family arrived, he quickly bonded with them and gained their trust. Upon the patient's death, they were satisfied that their father/husband did not suffer ant that this nurse had done a great job keeping him comfortable. The family made a point to tell me even during their grief how wonderful a job he did and how on top of things he was. I think that he not only did a great job, but he also regained the entire family's trust in FMC as a whole.
