My mom has had dementia for about 8-9 years. Unfortunately, last week she fell and had to be transported to the hospital. Being in a hospital can be a very frightening experience for someone in her condition. She was transported by ambulance and came in through the Emergency Department. After she received treatment there, she was placed in a room to start her recovery process. With her condition, being outside of her typical environment could have been very discomforting. Dementia is a terrible disease. However, my Mom and our family were very lucky and blessed that she was at a BayCare facility. Every BayCare team member who provided care for my mom understood her condition and did their best to make her stay as pleasant as possible. I can't say enough positive things about the care and loving treatment my Mom received from the entire BayCare team. I've always said that being in the healthcare industry is a calling, not just a job. My family feels so proud and lucky that God called these team members to take care of my Mom.
Thank you for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
