I wanted to take an opportunity to share with everyone our shining star from night shift. Most may not know Paige but our unit is so blessed to have her. Paige is the glue of our nightshift. She is kind of an unsung hero. She exuberates professionalism, politeness, and poise. We have nicknamed her because we all strive to be more like her. As a clinical supervisor who runs charge every shift she works, she still finds time to give feedback to help our unit run more efficiently. Paige thinks of others while being consistent and works with staff to maintain a balanced schedule.

Although I could brag about how amazing Paige is with the schedule and her IT skills, the biggest reason I wanted to nominate her for this award is that she truly goes above and beyond every shift she works. There was a patient not doing well after surgery recently, and Paige worked with the bedside nurse (side by side) for hours. Paige advocated for the patient and the nurse. The patient had to go back to emergency surgery and it was because of great nursing skills and teamwork. When Paige gave me report the next morning, she was visibly empathetic, caring, and concerned for not only the patient but for the staff as well. She even texted mid-day to check on the patient to see if she came back and was stable.

We are so blessed to have Paige Hernandez as a leader on our team, and I just wanted to share a little bit of her with everyone. Thank you!
