The kindness Paige showed to a troubled mother as her critically ill son was treated in the Intensive Care Unit did not go unnoticed by a co-worker who nominated her for a DAISY Award.
Paige spent time holding the mother's hand as she stood vigil by her son's side. The mother told Paige that if she could not think of a question at the time physician was in the room, she would write it down on torn paper towels when she thought of them later. On Mother's Day, as the mom continued to stay by her son's bedside, Paige gave her a journal to write her questions in, along with a card in which Paige assured the woman that she is a wonderful mother and that she was not alone in this difficult time.
