Paitton cared for a patient on MSU for four shifts in a row and learned that the patient's birthday was coming up. The patient mentioned that all she wanted for her birthday was strawberry shortcake. She didn't care for the hospital version of her favorite treat. Despite working the night shift and commuting over an hour, Paitton took the time to make a cake for the patient including homemade strawberry sauce. The patient was blown away by this gesture of kindness! Paitton said, "She didn't have any family available to visit and was feeling depressed. I thought of how I would feel in her situation and wanted to cheer her up and make her day." You did just that Paitton, you are a true GEM!
