When my daughter was 5 she was diagnosed with failure to thrive. She cried all of the time and had chronic abdominal pain. At that time, I had no medical experience and was at a loss to help her. No one could figure out what was wrong and my daughter underwent dozens of tests. Each test I hoped would have an answer and I was impatient for results. Pam was always gracious enough to take my calls and comfort me as I felt like a failure as a mother. I was doing everything I could as were the doctors and our amazing nurse, Pam. She gave me advice on multiple things to try to comfort my child. Eventually, my daughter was diagnosed with a medical disease that was treatable and after many doctor appointments, she began to thrive. Pam was always so kind as we followed up with Dr. S time after time. Her kindness never stopped; it continued with my son and it has continued with all of the patients whom she still cares for. I always felt valued and listened to by Pam. She truly models the picture of a nurse. She not only cares for the body, she cares for the spirit and heart of parents. She has been a nurse for almost thirty years, and the number of patients she has touched is incredible. I truly believe any patient would agree. Pam is an extraordinary nurse. I have been a nurse for only a year now, and I can only hope to be nurse who impacts people like Pam has.
