Pam had cared for a patient on 8/27 through 8/28 that had left an abusive relationship in Chicago and came to Rockford to have her baby. She, at the time, had been linked up with MELD and Motherhouse.

She was slightly mentally delayed and Pam spent time educating her and making sure (along with Social Services) that all of her needs would be met after she left the hospital. When it was time for discharge, Pam took her prescriptions to the SAH inpatient pharmacy with the patient's medical card to make sure she had her medications in hand before leaving the hospital. When picking them up from the pharmacy, there was a copay in the $10 range and when Pam found out that the patient had no money, Pam paid the co-pay with her own funds so the patient could have her medications.

Pam often goes out of her way to extend extra care to her patients. Many people do not notice this about Pam because she is not one to talk about all the extra care she provides, but the ones who work with her notice and hold her in high regard as a nurse.
