PAM WILSON
Hancock Regional Hospital
Greenfield, Indiana
January 2011 DAISY Award Winner!
Nomination Comments:
Pam is an exceptionally compassionate nurse. Pam’s name is seen on Press Ganey surveys on a regular basis. Her patients are very appreciative of the care she gives. She is not afraid to challenge patients to take charge of their care and to be more active in their health choices. She watches for those that don’t always have a voice and doesn’t let them slip through the cracks. I have seen Pam work very closely with Social Services to make sure one of our elderly patients, that could not care for herself at that time, was placed in a safe and healthy environment. Pam has also taken it upon herself to provide extra help to those in need by collecting personal items to be donated to some of our patients in need. Pam is a nurse because she wants to help people help themselves.
Pam is not only compassionate to her patients but also to her fellow staff. She is a true team player. She can be found helping out many times after her shift has ended. She is always giving others a helping hand to make the work easier. Pam brings pleasure to a typical work day. She is an excellent nurse, great team player and co-worker.
Pam Wilson is a bundle of energy. She goes out of her way to help patients. We always help patient families but in one situation she made arrangements for a family to have an apartment, clothing, food and medical care--the mother of a handicapped child who was being evicted from their apartment and needing everything. The mother also had health problems and had not asked for help. Pam is always a team player and helps everyone. She never knows when to stop. She is always the first to volunteer on committees; she offers her home and her family for support to staff and the community. She is a true angel. So for this long overdue appreciation for our valuable staff member, friend, leader and role model, we would like to nominate Pam Wilson.
