Recently Pam cared for a patient whom others may have preferred not to. The patient was covered in lesions with open oozing sores on her face and into her matted hair. Pam decided to take the patient to the shower and shampoo her hair that was stuck together with tissue and drainage from her many sores. The patient was so grateful and felt so much better after Pam took the time and the initiative to give her some dignity and show her compassion.
The patient was also worried about her cat that was home alone. Pam helped to arrange for the neighbor to care for the cat, alleviating a huge burden of worry for the patient.
When not at work, Pam continues to provide care and compassion in the community, she is a volunteer at the homeless shelter, active in her church, and an animal rights activist.
Pam is a nurse who will always go the extra mile for her patients and her community. She takes time to connect with people, especially those who have been shunned by society. In Pam's eyes, there is no social status, everyone deserves to be treated with kindness, compassion, and respect.
