One of the most impactful moments for me was when I woke up in the middle of the night, missing my children deeply. Pam sat by my side and talked with me about them, helping me picture their smiles and laughter.
During one of the most terrifying times of my life as a young mother of four dealing with serious heart issues, Pam was more than just a nurse—she became my lifeline. From the moment she walked into my room, I knew I was in the hands of someone who truly cared. Pam didn’t just treat me like a patient; she treated me like a person. She took the time to explain everything in detail, ensuring I understood my condition and treatment options, never rushing, and always checking if I had questions or needed more reassurance.
Pam’s dedication extended beyond her shift. I remember one night in particular when I was overwhelmed with anxiety about an upcoming procedure. Pam stayed with me well past her shift’s end, talking me through my fears and helping me feel safe and prepared. She didn’t have to do that, but she did because that’s just who Pam is—someone who goes above and beyond because she genuinely cares.

Pam embodies everything a nurse should be, and I can only hope that every patient gets the opportunity to experience the care of someone like her.
