Pam helped to offer closure to the family after their loss and made sure they had all the time they needed with their baby.
One moment you are counting every kick and hiccup. Expectations are high. The nursery is ready. You have a name picked out. Anticipation and excitement are hard to contain as you wait for your new arrival. Imagine handing the parents their shattered hopes and dreams in a lifeless blue blanket.
Although Pam consistently exemplifies what a hardworking, compassionate nurse looks like, I watched her go above and beyond for a family on this particular weekend. The family had suffered the loss of a child and after a traumatic delivery, this baby would have been difficult to present to the family. Pam took extra time and used an extra gentle touch to offer dignified care to this baby and his family, taking special care to wrap him in a way that ensured the parents could hold their son. This act by Pam made the difference in being able to take pictures and present the family with the mementos that they so deserved.
Pam helped to offer closure to the family after their loss and made sure they had all the time they needed with their baby. She was able to offer such strength and empathy to the family as they said their first hello and last goodbye to their first child. The care and compassion she showed were heartfelt and helped this family beyond measure. We are incredibly fortunate to have Pam as part of our NLC team, as she exemplifies the heart of patient-and family-centered care!
