Pam had an encounter with a new mommy who just knew that her baby "wasn't acting right". The physician in the Pediatric Emergency Room that day was not impressed with the child's presentation and put in orders to discharge home. Pam voiced her concern to the physician that further work-up needed to be completed and the oncoming physician agreed to further evaluate. The baby was dehydrated per labs and she was positive for pyloric stenosis. The child was transferred to another hospital and received the surgery she needed to get better. It's very hard to look at a physician and tell them you disagree with their course of action, but that is just what Pam did...all for the sake and greater benefit of that sweet angel. Below is the Facebook post by the mother singing Pam's praises:
We are currently in Atlanta with our child who is fighting a UTI and awaiting surgery to repair pyloric stenosis. Although this is not quite how or where we hoped to celebrate our first month with our sweet, sweet girl, we are thankful for the doctors and absolutely amazing nurses who have cared for our child and fought for her correct diagnosis. If anyone knows Pam in the Pediatric Emergency Room at Midtown Medical, hug her for us. She is our sassy, fire-spitting angel! After surgery and a couple more days of care, our little girl will be back home and good as new! (Because, well, she IS new!) We sure appreciate you Pam!
