Pam was informed that she would be receiving a transferred patient from another unit due to the need for a cardiac drip. Upon reviewing the chart and receiving the report, Pam discovered that the patient had a critical brain bleed and needed to transfer to another hospital. She informed management that the transfer to another floor would just delay the patient care when time was of the essence and the patient's PB needed to be controlled as soon as possible. This led to the appropriate staff being deployed to the other unit and monitoring the patient and cardiac drip at the bedside. Pam was able to recognize the patient needed care immediately and followed the chain of command to help this patient without ever seeing her. This was also the day before her 36th year of service with Ascension.
