She has a way of making you feel empowered while reassuring you that everything is going to be okay when making a critical decision.
I wanted to take the time to let you know what a prize you have in this nurse. As a manager with a long background of hiring and managing top talent, it would be a disservice if I did not submit her for this award, as she is one of the main reasons my daughter, who was born at 23 weeks, is thriving today. When asked, "what do you think made her so successful? The answer is easy! It was Love, and this nurse played a Big Role in that because She Dared to Love! When speaking to several people over the 4 and 1/2 months we were there, a lot of nurses try not to get attached due to the fear of loss or something going wrong. However, I am so glad I had this nurse as my daughter's primary nurse, and she is living proof that Love can make a world of difference, and it is so worth the risk. I had peace of mind knowing my daughter was in the hands of someone who loved her when I could not be there. My daughter did, too, and would light up every time I saw her with her "Nurse Mom." This nurse spent extra time with her, such as tummy time, playtime, etc. She was truly invested in her development, and she did not limit her Love due to statistics or past benchmarks. She had others, too, that were just like family and all the nurses were great. I just want to shine a light on her because she went well beyond the call of duty. Few people ever get to live out their purpose, but I am so glad she is living it, and our family was able to be served by her. I can go on and on about how knowledgeable and kind this nurse is, but I want to talk about a few things that made her impact unique and irreplaceable. This nurse was able to really show empathy versus sympathy, which is hard to train. I know because I train on this every day, and it is much harder to apply as people try to use it. From a NICU parent praying your baby is going to make it and not sure what you are going to face each day, this makes a world of difference on stress level. This nurse was there every step of the way with upcoming tests and setting the right expectation, so it was like we all took the journey together. The way she delivers a message is perfectly executed. She has a way of making you feel empowered while reassuring you that everything is going to be okay when making a critical decision. When she spoke to us, she did so in a way to partner with us and helped us reach our goals with the choices we needed to make, versus just telling us what we should do. I would love to see her win this award because she had the real healer's touch.
