Pam understood my feelings and spoke with the doctor to set up my discharge that evening.
Pam had the understanding of a mother, as well as the confidence and skills as a nurse. One thing I noticed that was different about her was that she took care of my tray from lunch. Something in the past other nurses has told me that someone else would be down to take it shortly.
I have 7 children that I needed to get home too. I had been admitted because the original doctor in the ER that had seen me thought that I needed to be on IV antibiotics. I was only given that one dose of antibiotics that the ER hooked me up to. After that, every other doctor that examined me said that the oral antibiotics, I was already on seemed to be working well. I had gone in because when I was seen a week before this by the ER, they had told me I needed IV antibiotics and that I needed to be admitted. I could not stay; having no notice of this I did not have the care for my children that would allow me to stay. So, they gave me oral antibiotics and I went home.
I came back about a week later after finding childcare for 2 days. After spending the night in the hospital on oral antibiotics I felt I should be at home. Long story somewhat short, Pam understood my feelings and spoke with the doctor to set up my discharge that evening. I was home to my children by 8 pm that night. I just could tell she truly loves her job and didn't mind any of my questions or my being emotional.

Note: This is Pam's 3rd DAISY Award!
