When I was received into the DOM, I tested positive for COVID. While here, I observed a quarantine for several days, during which I was only checked visually and received meals dropped off. My symptoms were not severe; however, I felt like a leper alone on an island. Once Pam came to the DOM, she engaged me, making me feel human. She took me outside, showed me where the kitchen was, and pointed out the GM's location. She encouraged me to go outside and get some air while still social distancing. Since then, she has kept a friendly, professional rapport with me, checking on my mental stability. She assisted me with puzzles to distract me from feeling alone or depressed. Her energy has made me excited to have chosen to be in the DOM. I felt like I had made a mistake, as no one else provided any encouragement or information about expectations. She also made sure that when she was here, I had ice water and medications to help me become well again. I appreciate her professionalism and humanity.
