Parker is the kind of person who gives healthcare workers a good name. His compassion and attention to patient care are unparalleled.
This nurse exemplifies the type of nursing hero that drives this profession and he has an extraordinary impact on the everyday battle we wage to save lives and get people back on their feet again. His selfless commitment to his calling led him to voluntarily seek a place within the TCU to care for PCC patients. This decision was based purely on his unwavering dedication to the patients we serve. He makes a huge difference for our hospital, but also in the lives of the individuals he encounters. His humble service and caring character are well known amongst his peers.
Recently, I spoke with a doctor who has been working with this nurse in the TCU. She called to commend him and share something special that happened as she and this nurse were leaving the hospital after a long shift. This nurse observed a person who was unsteady on their feet and struggling to walk. Without hesitation, this nurse came and offered his assistance to this person- always going above the call of duty. They discovered that this person was in fact a patient that had just been discharged from the UCEC and was trying to walk to the Salvation Army across the street. This nurse kindly assisted the patient back inside the hospital to UCEC and in collaboration with the social workers; he ensured that the patient was able to safely make it to the Salvation Army.
Parker is the kind of person who gives healthcare workers a good name. His compassion and attention to patient care are unparalleled. His bravery to step up and volunteer for the TCU in this unprecedented time of need speaks to his good merits. We are thankful for his service, he is a true DAISY Nurse.
