Pat with her sweet, calm, loving voice explained to him that she was a pro and promised it would not hurt him, promised.
My son spent 8 days at Children’s Hospital. By the time he was admitted he had been sick for a week in and out of the emergency room, by this time he was terrified of IVs. On his 3rd day of being admitted, his IV went bad again – this being his third IV since being admitted. Pat Granger was on the floor not even to see my son, but another patient on the floor, and the nurses asked if she would come and talk to him about getting an IV placed in a different spot. He was so sad and upset and in pain that he felt that he just could not take another IV.

Pat with her sweet, calm, loving voice explained to him that she was a pro and promised it would not hurt him, promised. He trusted her and within 2 minutes had been prepped and given a new IV. For the first time in days his IV did not hurt, as she had promised. Pat stopped several times throughout his visit to check on him and visit. His life has been changed, thankfully he is well now and doing even better than ever. He talks about Pat often and although all of the nurses are so kind, loving, sweet, and compassionate, he loves Pat the most. She made a difference in my son’s care, she showed kindness in a dire situation, and for that I cannot thank her enough. She is beyond dedicated. Thank you for all your work and loving your job.
