I can hardly think of anyone in my life whom I have ever met who is more devoted to a place of employment than Pat Marshall is to West Suburban Medical Center. She exemplifies the DAISY Award in so many ways. She is extremely passionate about ensuring all our patients receive the highest level of care, especially some of our most vulnerable patients. She loves educating the nursing staff about the care of our chest pain patients, and in the care of our RRT patients and our CODE BLUE patients, including orientation, huddles in the ER, and if necessary real-time education.

Moreover, Pat is also passionate about our staff. Her most common role is that of nursing supervisor, and there are probably very few people that could serve as a diplomatic mediator between units as Pat can. Sometimes units do not always see eye to eye on many things such as patient placement or whether the patient should board in the ED until there is adequate staffing. However, somehow Pat is able to use her diplomacy and insight from her over 40 years of experience, and convey it in a way that our staff feels heard and respected. This brings me to my final point. Pat is so highly respected by the entire staff nursing and ancillary staff alike. Pat is truly one of the great treasures of West Suburban Medical Center.
