Pat is a nurse in the Infusion Clinic and one of the most caring nurses I have ever had the pleasure of working with. Oncology is a very difficult and emotionally draining field to work in, but Pat always makes each workday fun no matter what type of situations we encounter. She always demonstrates compassion and has a way with words that I can't quite describe. Within five minutes of meeting her, she has a way of making you feel like you have been great friends for years. She has a way of bringing light and humor to the darkness that is much needed and appreciated in this field of oncology. A bunch of our coworkers joke about how patients always request her or frequently as "is Pat here today?" but after seeing how she interacts with the patients, I would probably be asking the same question if I were going through treatment.
I don't have a specific story or situation to describe why Pat is deserving of a DAISY Award but that is because I would have described every single interaction, she has with her patients here. She doesn't think twice about going the extra mile for patients, family members, and coworkers alike. As a coworker, she is the first nurse to pull you aside and ask if you are okay or take notice if you need help, work-related or not. Pat is the true example of going above and beyond for anyone and everyone. I think that I speak on behalf of all our colleagues when I say she not only makes me want to be a better nurse but a better person as well. Pat is a true DAISY Nurse and I hope she realizes that her constant kindness and compassion do not go unnoticed.
