The Risk Management-Patient Safety Team exemplifies the very spirit of the DAISY Team Award through exceptional collaboration, clinical partnership, and unwavering commitment to patient and team member safety. This interdisciplinary team consistently works alongside frontline clinicians, operational leaders, and physicians to proactively identify risk, strengthen practice, and ensure compassionate, safe care across the organization.

Throughout multiple complex initiatives, the team has demonstrated a culture of collaboration rooted in respect for clinical expertise and shared accountability for outcomes. The Risk Management Team also played a critical collaborative role in major improvement initiatives such as CIWA care pathway, informed consent improvements, cardiac monitoring process improvements, and increasing near miss reporting across the system. The team communicates clearly across departments, follows through on action items, and ensures that frontline voices are heard and supported; demonstrating how effective teamwork directly translates to safer patient care.

In operational decision-making, the team consistently models partnership and transparency. This was evident during stretcher risk assessments, where Risk Management worked side by side with nursing leadership to objectively evaluate equipment safety, weigh competing risks, and support data-informed decisions that protect both patients and staff. Their willingness to convene conversations, document risk thoughtfully, and remain accessible reflects a deep respect for nursing practice and shared problem-solving.

Beyond individual projects, the Risk Management Team is a trusted presence ”available during on-call coverage, proactive in education, and responsive to emerging concerns. Their collaborative approach fosters trust, reduces fear around reporting and risk, and reinforces a just culture where safety is everyone's responsibility. They work many hours and are always available.

Through their daily actions, this team lives Baptist Health's mission to provide safe, high-quality, compassionate care. They are true role models of teamwork, demonstrating that when nurses and interdisciplinary partners work together with purpose and respect, the impact is felt not only in policies and processes, but in the lives of patients, families, and colleagues across our community.

For these reasons, the Risk Management Team is richly deserving of the DAISY Team Award.

CONGRATULATIONS! Many thanks for all you do for our patients, families & team members!

Thank you for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
