Her legacy is not only measured in years of service but in the countless lives she has touched and the nurses she has helped develop along the way.
With over forty-four years of dedicated service to nursing and Chester County Hospital, she has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to excellence, compassionate care, and leadership that has profoundly impacted patients, families, and staff alike.
Patrice started her nursing career right here at the Chester County School of Nursing. She then worked as a floor nurse for several years on various units until she found her home in Ambulatory Care. Patrice has been in Ambulatory Care for over 20 years, serving as a floor nurse and then moving into the Clinical Managers’ role.
Throughout her career, she has exemplified what it truly means to be a nurse leader. Her attention to detail ensures that patient safety, quality care, and operational excellence are always at the forefront. She has an incredible ability to anticipate needs, address challenges proactively, and create systems that support both patients and the healthcare team. Her thoroughness and high standards elevate the units under her management and serve as a model for others. Patrice is famously known for keeping her department's survey ready.
Equally remarkable is her compassion. She leads with empathy and kindness, never losing sight of the human side of healthcare. Patients and families feel seen, heard, and cared for, as evidenced by glowing Press Ganey surveys. Patrice makes staff members feel supported and valued by cultivating a culture of trust and respect, actively listening to staff concerns, providing consistent guidance, and recognizing both individual and team achievements.
After more than four decades in nursing, she continues to approach each day with the same genuine dedication to helping others. Patrice has often said that there are rules and then there is life. She treats everyone fairly and equally and with dignity and respect. She has been a source of comfort for countless employees who are dealing with personal struggles.
I have witnessed Patrice’s compassion firsthand. When dealing with several personal issues that all hit at the same time, Patrice made me feel safe and supported. She would listen without judgment and offer sound advice without overstepping. These are skills not many have mastered. Patrice has a level of emotional intelligence most aspire to.
Her leadership has shaped generations of nurses. She mentors with patience, encourages professional growth, and fosters a culture of teamwork, accountability, and respect. She leads by example, by demonstrations of integrity, resilience, and professionalism in every situation.
Patrice encourages and supports staff on their journey to accomplish their certification or advanced degrees by aiding with study guides, resources, and allowing students to adjust their schedules to complete their clinical rotations. Her ability to inspire others and bring out the best in her team has made a lasting impact on the organization and the nursing profession.
Under Patrice’s leadership, I have seen my nursing career grow and evolve in the eight short years she has been my manager. Certification was my first goal when I came to Chester County Hospital. I achieved my certification in November of 2020. I then set my sights on getting my master’s degree and stepping into the charge nurse role. Patrice has supported me unconditionally through all these goals.
Now in my Assistant Manager role, Patrice is not only a source of support but also a wonderful mentor. She is patient and kind while I learn the role of a leader. She has all the traits of a great leader and mentor, integrity, emotional intelligence, clear communicator, decisiveness, adaptability, empathy, and compassion, just to name a few. These are traits I hope to emulate one day.
After over forty-four years of service, her passion for nursing remains evident in everything she does. Patrice truly exemplifies the ICARE values of Chester County Hospital. She continues to advocate for patients, guide her team, and uphold the highest standards of care.
Her legacy is not only measured in years of service but in the countless lives she has touched and the nurses she has helped develop along the way.
For her remarkable dedication, compassionate leadership, and lifelong commitment to excellence in nursing, she is truly deserving of this DAISY Nurse Leader Award.
