I would like to recognize Patricia Flores from the Gray Team at McAllen Outpatient clinic. After an eye exam, it was noted that I had changes in my eyes that may indicate that I might have had a mild stroke. Things were moving fast and tests needed to be done to find out what was going on with my health. Ms. Flores took the time to explain what was happening, what I should expect next and reassured me that I would get all the care that I needed. She was very kind, considerate and took time from her busy schedule to ensure that I needed all the tests and lab worked that were required got expedited. I was impressed and grateful that she took time out of her busy schedule to ensure that all my needs were met.
The next day, Mrs. Flores called me to inform me of a bilateral stat scan of my carotids that needed to be done. I was unclear as to why this needs to be done so Ms. Flores took time out of her schedule to sit with me, face to face, and explain why this was required. I got my scan done and then Ms. Flores collaborated with NVACC (NON-VA Community Care) to get me a voucher to see a cardiologist in the community ASAP. Within two days I had an appointment with the Cardiologist. I then went back to the clinic and spoke to Ms. Flores who then took the time from her schedule to ensure that I got medications and more tests ordered by the cardiologist. I feel that all of Ms. Flores compassionate and timely care saved my life.
