I am here with my mom and she was just told by oncology that she likely has cancer. My mom took it like a champ and unfortunately, I did not. While we were trying to process all this information and trying to control her pain, Tricia came in to check on my mom. The doctors hadn’t put the order in yet, but Tricia paged them and got the orders quickly for pain meds. I hadn’t been able to stop crying and needed to take a walk. I was too nervous to leave since my mom was getting IV morphine for the first time this hospital stay and had previously had nausea and vomiting with pain meds. Tricia offered to stay and sit with my mom and monitor her so I could take a walk, get some fresh air, and compose myself. Tricia sat down in my exact spot and talked with my mom while I took a break. Just this small act made such a huge difference and I am so grateful for her.
