There once was a nurse on 8 East whose talent for compassion made her an artist. She gives without fail, cares for the most frail, and shows Veterans that her patient care never ceases. I nominate Patricia for The DAISY Award.

For the past two years, I have had the privilege to work on 8E to help when needed. I have seen how Patricia has taken the initiative to create a world where the most vulnerable of our nation’s heroes are safe, cared for, and made to feel important.

I’ve experienced how she delivers excellence when responding to extraordinary situations, whether emergencies or even when the patient is fearful or angry about their current arrangement. She has incredible clinical skills in her day-to-day activities and works with her team, often in a mentorship role, to deliver compassionate patient care timely and without error. She understands the needs of the Veteran and works diligently to make each one comfortable while ensuring every medical, emotional, and physical need is met.
