Pat joined other ONS members in Washington, DC, as part of the ONS Capitol Gang. This is for nurses interested in advocacy on Capitol Hill to make the oncology nursing voice heard by decision-makers.
Although she is new to UTSW (July 2022), Pat has made an impact and we are grateful to have her on our team at Redbird infusion Center. Pat has received multiple PACT cards from patients. She is passionate about providing compassionate/quality care to her patients. Pat is always cheerful and willing to train/mentor staff.

The following is an example of Pat's exemplary patient care. She was recently instrumental in assisting a patient and their family in making a hospice decision. She really helped to allay their fears and misconceptions about hospice.

Pat joined other ONS members in Washington, DC, as part of the ONS Capitol Gang. This is for nurses interested in advocacy on Capitol Hill to make the oncology nursing voice heard by decision-makers. This group is involved in:

• Participating in Capitol Hill lobbying days

• Meeting with members of Congress and their staff

• Attending federal agency meetings

• Reviewing and providing input on draft legislation on proposed regulations

• Representing ONS at press conferences or other public meetings.

Pat was invited by ONS to participate in an inaugural event, in conjunction with the San Antonio Breast Symposium. These 3 groups, Touch, The Black Breast Cancer Alliance/Metastatic Breast Cancer /Triple Negative Breast Cancer Foundation, have joined to bring greater awareness to the experiences of black women and the disparities regarding clinical trials. It is noted that only about 36-37% of black women are offered clinical trials and they seek to change this narrative by providing greater education to empower “MBC thrivers.” There is a movement titled- When We Trial...lives are saved and or extended.

Pat has also volunteered and worked with other staff at our Dallas site Cancer Center to help make an educational video for the Cancer Center.
