I want to be like Patty when I "grow up"! Before additional educators were brought on board for Women's, Patty was the educator for all of the Women's departments. I have NO IDEA how she managed all of that! Patty exudes the highest level of professionalism and is amazing at what she does. She demonstrates "love me" by acting as a mentor, not only to her nursing team, but to her fellow educators. She takes the time to listen, provide support, offer feedback, and help when available. Her ability to "make things easy" as an educator shines through daily. She is always thinking of fun, creative ways for new nurses to remember things, and her ability to teach a class is admirable. She oversees the OBED and the Labor and Delivery unit, which are both incredibly unique and come with their own sets of educational challenges. Patty handles such challenges with finesse and ensures that her team has exactly what they need to be successful. In doing this, she is ensuring her team has the knowledge and skill level needed to keep some of the most vulnerable patients safe. She is not afraid to speak up for what she believes is right and is always trying to find solutions to problems. She is the onboarding queen and has been able to turn that process into a well-oiled machine. I saw Patty operate as a team leader in an emergency and her ability to "own it" was astounding. She was able to keep the team calm, focused, steady and on task to literally keep someone alive. It was fascinating to watch her in action. If anyone in this building deserves this award, it should be Patty.
