There are so many stories to tell of Pat being one of the most extraordinary nurses I have ever met that it is hard to choose just one. There is one example, however, that stands out the most. One of Pat’s patients was declining and, unfortunately, was put on hospice during her shift. She showed an abundance of compassion, love, and patience towards this patient and his family. Pat stayed beyond her scheduled shift to see him through, providing the most comfortable and dignified transition she possibly could. She regularly goes above and beyond for her patients, not out of obligation, but out of genuine care—and she shows that on a daily basis. As an aspiring nurse at the time, this was a great example of how much love and heart go into nursing. I am forever grateful to have had the opportunity to work beside Pat and to have had such a great influence to look up to.
