I was a patient over the weekend and Pat was the first nurse that I met during the day who took the time to explain the difference between shots of pain medication that I was receiving, versus just taking it in pill form to ease my pain. I felt like she cared about me, to go the extra step to make sure I felt comfortable when I was home. She explained why it was better to switch to the pill form, as it more closely matched what I was taking at home, and I could be monitored here prior to going home. Pat also helped me obtain information about my mother in law who was in the ED. The fact that I was an inpatient upstairs and not able to be with her was making me panic, but she went and called down and let me talk to her. I was able to relax.
