Patti LaPola on an everyday basis I feel goes above and beyond for her patients. She is caring/compassionate and attentive to all SDS patients. She makes sure when on shift that all staff receive help if needed always willing to pitch in. Today we received a patient from the ER. The patient was not feeling well and had required extra attention (elevated HR, low BP, pain control, other interventions including Foley insertion, fluid bolus, and medication for pain control). She took all these tasks with ease and made the patient feel more comfortable at the same time. Patti was her advocate and it showed. I am writing this recommendation as the patient is still in SDS. At this time, she is much more comfortable. The patient is resting with eyes closed, more stable than when we received her, due to Patti's diligent nursing as I had stated previously. She helps with other tasks while taking care of her patients, helping me with IVs, vitals, etc., etc. The patient is going to OR and Patti has made sure she is ready and capable of going to the OR.
