The pulmonologist ordered fluid removal from my wife's lungs on Friday morning. It was taking a while and they said transport was busy. By 3:30 pm I got upset and said since it's Friday we would reschedule for Monday. Nurse Patty Livingston heard my frustration called to check then decided to take personal action. She called ultrasound and they said they could do it only if my wife arrived before 4 pm. Patty, who was off-duty, finished her shift and came into the room and told my wife that she was more important. She got a cardiac monitor, O2 and took her to ultrasound. We arrived at 3:50 pm. Thanks to nurse Patty and her persistence, the right thing was done. Patty stayed through the procedure (my wife was scared and nervous) and brought her back to her room. Patty never worried about her personal time but cared about what was right for the patient. She was our angel in a time of very nervous worry. Words cannot express my thanks for her selfless dedication.
