It is difficult to find the words to express my gratitude for line nurse Patty at Porter Regional. She was my first nurse when I began treatment in the summer. She took my first blood draw for labs and access to my port-a-catheter the first time. I was anxious about my first port access, having experienced my seven-year-old grandson's experience with treatment for leukemia. Patty's steady hands and gentle approach made the access absolutely painless along with every time since the first visit. She also stayed with me to fill my chemotherapy drug bags that first time.
Her instructions and advice were so valuable. She spent a lot of time going over doctors' procedures and covered many things the doctors don't always have time to mention. Her loving and considerate manner put me at ease and provided a wonderful foundation for my first cancer treatment visit. This lady is a true champion in my personal hero she will forever have my admiration and appreciation.
