July 2026 Honoree
Patricia McCrink, MSN, RN
Here's what some of Ms. McCrink's nominators had to say about her extraordinary commitment to advancing nursing practice, mentoring others, and fostering professional growth within Radiation Oncology:
"Patty is actively involved in numerous departmental, entity, and system-wide committees. She serves on the System Ethics Committee, assisting with both patient and staff ethical concerns. She is an active preceptor and mentor within Radiation Oncology, where she continually assesses staff educational needs, develops education plans, and builds job-specific competencies.
Even in a busy, patient-driven environment, she takes every opportunity to teach in the moment. Patty has consistently demonstrated exceptional commitment and leadership within Radiation Oncology, making significant contributions that have positively impacted radiation therapists, physicists, nurses, and radiation oncologists. Her staff love her and have supported her throughout her own healthcare journey."

"I am nominating Patty McCrink because she is truly an extraordinary person. From the moment I joined Radiation Oncology, she has been a guiding light. She has become someone I can talk to, confide in, and look to as an incredible mentor throughout my nursing career. This past year, while battling her own cancer diagnosis, Patty continued working while also raising money for cancer organizations that are important to her.
Even in the midst of her own treatment, she partnered with two colleagues to launch an aromatherapy initiative for our patients. Having experienced cancer from the patient's perspective, she recognized how valuable aromatherapy could be in helping patients cope with stress and remain calm during such a difficult season. Today, we have begun implementing this practice within our department because of her vision. Patty is a true testament to resilience, dedication, and selfless service. No challenge is too great for her."
---
"I am honored to nominate Patty McCrink for the DAISY Nurse Educator Award in recognition of the tremendous impact she has on our nursing staff and the culture of Radiation Oncology. Patty consistently goes above and beyond to support, mentor, and inspire the nurses she works with. She has been an incredible mentor to me personally, especially through my involvement in shared governance.
She encourages nurses to have a voice in practice changes and unit improvements, empowering us to make meaningful contributions to our workplace. Her encouragement and belief in my potential inspired me to pursue my master's degree in Nursing Education. Patty actively promotes professional development and helps every nurse believe they can achieve their goals. She continually seeks opportunities for staff to participate in committees, lead projects, and become more involved throughout the organization.
She genuinely wants each of us to grow professionally and personally. Her support extends to everyone in Radiation Oncology, and she is always available to guide, encourage, and advocate for our success. Her dedication to education, mentorship, and professional growth has created a positive and empowering environment throughout our department. Patty embodies the qualities of an exceptional Nurse Educator, and our department is stronger because of her leadership."
