Patricia treats every one of her patients like they were her own family. She cares deeply about her patients and takes their decline to heart. We have seen her cry because of her compassion. She is a true team player and always strives to be the best nurse and preceptor. New nurses want to follow in her footsteps. It is an honor to work with her and a pleasure to see what a wonderful nurse she is.
One patient's family expressed their gratitude for the outstanding attention given to their sister. They describe Pat's professionalism, empathy and ability to provide every family member with information they needed. Pat gave their sister the respect and dignity that unfortunately a patient loses while they approach end of life. The patient's health care agent, applauded Pat for giving her the needed time and knowledge to proceed with her responsibilities as she could not have done this without her support.
Another patient's wife wrote "Patricia gave exceptional care to my husband. She was kind, compassionate, and extremely supportive. She was always available and went out of her way to make sure we were informed, prepared and comforted. She was knowledgeable and efficient and we felt they were in the best possible hands." She described how her husband died peacefully at home just as he wanted and the real fondness he had for Pat and how he even looked forward to her visits. He said on more than one occasion— that it takes a special person to do this kind of work and that Pat is one of those special people.
