Dr. Nabal's Haitian heritage and familial roots hold a special place in her heart. She passionately engages in medical missionary work, making annual trips to Haiti with the Lesage Foundation to provide primary healthcare services to at-risk populations and underserved communities.
Dr. Nabal is a millennial thought leader dedicated to advancing the nursing profession and a champion for the equal rights of minorities, the underserved, and underrepresented communities. With a deep commitment to community service and advocacy for at-risk and vulnerable populations, she employs the servant leadership model.
Currently serving as the associate dean of nursing at City Colleges of Chicago's Malcolm X College, Dr. Nabal contributes her expertise as a family nurse practitioner with a doctorate degree in nursing practice and a bachelor’s degree in psychology. Her background in women's health, labor/delivery, and forensic nursing complements her work in trauma-informed care. Dr. Nabal's Haitian heritage and familial roots hold a special place in her heart. As a volunteer with Creighton University's hernia surgical team, she also travels bi-annually to Misión ILAC in the Dominican Republic.
In addition to her role as associate dean, Dr. Nabal holds prominent leadership positions in several influential nursing organizations. She serves as the president of the Haitian American Nurses Association of Illinois and the 2nd vice president of the Haitian Alliance Nurses Association International. As the Midwest Regional Director of the Organization for Associate Degree Nursing (OADN), she co-chairs the committee for diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI). Dr. Nabal is an active member of the National Black Nurses Association (NBNA) and the American Nurses Association of Illinois (ANA-IL).
Furthermore, she serves as the chairperson of the education committee for the National Coalition of 100 Black Women (NCBW100), Chicago Metropolitan Chapter. She also serves as the recording secretary of the executive board of the Top Ladies of Distinction, Inc. (TLOD), Skyline Metropolitan Chapter, and corresponding secretary for the area chapter. Additionally, Dr. Nabal is a founding member of the Coalition of Haitian American Organizations of the Chicagoland Area (CHAOCA). Driven by a desire to empower Haitian women and children, Dr. Nabal founded the Daughters of Anacaona, also known as "Fondasyon Pitit Anacaona.” Additionally, she extends her support to nursing students as the founder and head coach of NCLEXLamaze, a mentoring service.
Beyond her professional endeavors, she finds joy in her Christian faith, cherishes meaningful connections with people, and embraces the beauty of life. Her favorite things include the innocence of babies, the wisdom of the elderly, the vibrant culture of Haiti, the power of music, the art of photography, the knowledge found in books, the serenity of acoustics, the refreshing taste of mangoes, the expressiveness of emojis, the contagious joy of belly laughs, the warmth of the color maroon, the inspiration of positive affirmations, and the hope that rises with every sunrise. During her leisure time, Dr. Nabal indulges in the company of loved ones, shares her voice through singing with the Peace Troupe, explores new destinations through travel, immerses herself in literature through reading, and expresses her thoughts and experiences through writing. Guided by the wisdom of Martin Luther King Jr., she lives by his profound words: "We must accept finite disappointment, but never lose infinite hope."
