Patricia Nsini, MSN-NP, RN, CCRN
My 19-year-old daughter was admitted to Kaiser Downey in respiratory distress and had to be placed on a ventilator. Patricia was my daughter's nurse, and from the moment she cared for my daughter, she showed genuine compassion and kindness.
She made sure my daughter was clean, comfortable, and treated with dignity. She also took the time to listen to me as a worried mother. When I shared my concerns that my daughter might be having seizures, she did not dismiss me. Instead, she immediately brought my concerns to the doctor, and they discovered that my daughter was, in fact, having back-to-back seizures.
In that moment, I truly felt heard and supported. When she returned, she made sure my daughter was monitored even more closely. She held my daughter’s hand, spoke to her with warmth, and reassured her that everything would be okay. During one of the most frightening times in our lives, her care, attentiveness, and compassion brought comfort not only to my daughter but to our entire family and me. We will always be grateful for the difference she made.
