A patient that frequently comes to the hospital was a patient on BHO. He usually just sleeps and waits to be transferred to an inpatient psych facility. However, this visit was different, he wanted to talk.
I witnessed Patricia listening to him tell her his story. Her eyes were connected with his, a gentle touch on the arm and she was intently listening to him. Apparently he is extremely addicted to gambling; he spends every penny that he gets and becomes suicidal. He told Patricia that he wanted help for his addiction. There are no GA centers in Las Vegas because Patricia called place after place trying to find some help for him. Hours later she found a place in Northern Nevada that is a state funded inpatient treatment center for gambling addictions. She helped him fill out all of the paperwork to get him enrolled in their facility. On top of all the calls she made, she continued to take care of all the other patients she had that day.
It warms my heart to know that Patricia made such an effort to get him the help that he needed. She was the one person that fought for him, to help him break the addiction that he has. She truly goes above and beyond the call of duty for her patients.
