As a code was paged overhead, Patty reported to the Emergency Department as she always does. This time the code was called on one of our own employees who was having trouble finding words. The patient was very scared, and tears filled her eyes. She could not express the way she was feeling. Patty was at her side and held her hand. As the ED team worked on the patient Patty comforted and assured her during this time. Warm blankets were given to the patient and her husband was notified. Eventually, the patient was able to find her words again and was very grateful for her actions. Patty is our TCD manager and her act of going above and beyond to bring comfort to a patient in her time of need was extraordinary. Patty stayed with the patient and even helped load her onto the helicopter.
