Patti was my daughter's nurse in 4 E. It was her 3rd inpatient stay at UCLA NPI and I have met many nurses before. Patti showed compassion and kindness to my daughter above and beyond the already outstanding standards at UCLA. She made a difference to her, and that in turn eased my mind too. Thank you, Patti!

I had just weeks before started the path towards sobriety for the 1st time in my life, and had to end a 17-year relationship because I knew that person wouldn't be healthy for me now. All that, combined with the time of year was sending me into an episode so I checked in. It's funny because some of the staff even recognized me from 12 years ago, showing me how much they really care and pay attention. My 1st day I was assigned to Patti (Patricia) and soon realized how lucky I was. I felt immediately at ease with her warm smile, and sense of humor. And Patti, got things done, and got them done fast. The wrong food came, you needed your meds, or time on the internet she took care of it. The whole 4 E Wing just seemed to run smoother with Patti around. But it wasn't just her efficiency to admire, but the extraordinary compassion she exuded! It was the personal interest she gave me. I thought that was great! Yesterday I received the news that my father had passed: no one even knew how yet. My family was all headed towards the Bay Area and here I was feeling alone and claustrophobic. If it wasn't for Patti, I might have lost my ability to cope. We talked and talked. She brought lavender for me to soothe me. I received the worst news of my life and she was my rock. Thank you, Patti.
