August 2022 Honoree
Patricia Waters, RN
Patty Waters is a Registered Nurse on the Inpatient Unit. She is knowledgeable, kind, and compassionate. She is diligent with the performance of patient care while being detailed with her documentation in the electronic medical record. She performs her duties in a professional manner. She follows evidenced based practice and ensures that her patients receive excellent care.
She primarily works the night shift. Her performance is stellar despite working with the challenges that night shift offers to most professionals. Patty is also humble. She consistently manages up her teammates to ensure that her patients feel calm and confident with their care. She follows the Standards of Behavior and holds her teammates to the same expectation. Patty is a top performer when working with high-acuity patients. She is a skilled nurse and continues to learn and educate herself to be a better nurse. She is a role model for the Core Values that Mahaska Health has put in place!
I have worked with Patty for several years and can attest to her performance. I have always known she is an extraordinary nurse but it became evident when my father was hospitalized. I spent several nights with him and on one of those nights he had a rapid response event. I know that he was kept alive because of Patty. She understood his cardiac arrhythmia and complex disease process. She knew when and how to get help. She created a calm, teamwork approach to a very hectic, difficult situation. I had spent countless hours with him at major hospitals and Patty stands out as a Registered Nurse and is very deserving of this award!
